Where to volunteer? |
I want to do volunteer work over the summer when I'm home from college and won't have a job. I looked into 2 local hospitals- 1 only offered clerical duties for volunteers (I'd like to work with people), and the other had a 3-4 months wait for volunteering! Also looked into the humane society, but you must go to orientation before even applying and the next one isn't until the end of June. I'd like to work at a hospital, or with animals, or for a hotline, or some type of social services center(rape, domestic violence, HIV/AIDs, mental illness, homeless, etc.). ANYTHING where I'm helping people or animals! I'm having such a hard time finding anything on the net or thinking of other places to call I haven't already checked out. I'm looking for something in Orange County, CA. I live in Placentia which is very close to Anaheim. (Disneyland) Well if your really serious about volunteer work which it seem like u are i recommend starting with the red cross so they can teach disaster preparation and also help others in all location of the world. They also teach you C.P.R and many other survivor tactic's that can save your life and other's. Salvation Army Well, you didn't mention anything about children, but I do know that a lot of day cares would love extra help and if you are THAT dedicated, that's a very good thing. Day cares can always use an extra helping hand - somebody who cares and will treat the children with their upmost respect. start a computer learning center see how at try Americorps they have plenty of course the application process is timely other than that their ok that's Americorps.gov If you like helping other people and it makes you happy. Then you should start from where you live. Start working for shelter. I am pretty sure there you will found so many people who are addicted to drugs or who is victims of domestic violence or maybe rape. ok: in where you can help today is to belong with Set up a decent local volunteer website................. I would recommend that you contact your local volunteer center. They can provide all sorts of one-time or short-term volunteer activities that match your interest and meet real community needs as well. |
