Do you find this law to be unjust?

In Miami, two gay men became foster parents to small baby who was born with HIV.
They nursed the baby back to health over a period of years when the babies natural family gave up on it.
Then they tried to adopt the baby but then the grandmother changed her mind (now that the baby is healthy) and decided she would take the child away.
She used the state's law against Gay adoption as her foundation to keep the baby.

What kind of child would be happy living with a woman who left them to die?

Ryans Mom - you are right - the baby was 8 months old... I was actually getting it confused with another case where the child was much older.
And by saying that the baby is "healthy" now, I was not saying that the HIV went away... only that the baby will live.

That is sad that it was ruled that way! Children need to be loved and have stability at all times. Granny did not step up before, she should have left the situation alone. The child would have been better off where he was, With two men I am sure he loved and formed a bond with and felt the same way about the baby. I am sure this is just confusing and traumatic for the child.

THIS IS SO SAD FOR THE CHILD AND THE MEN WHO RAISED IT, WE HAD A CASE SOMETHING LIKE THIS SEVERAL YEARS AGO.

THAT IS SO WRONG THAT THE GRANDMOTHER WOULD DO THAT. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT YOUR SEXUAL ORIENTATION IS. THAT IS NOT WHAT DETERMINES IF YOU CAN LOVE AND CARE FOR A CHILD.

She will change her mind when the child ends up having severe behavior problems from being born drug addicted and then give him up again and he will end up being bounced around several foster homes, instead of being left in a home where he was already loved. BTW. They have not had the baby for "Years". He is just now 8 months old and they did not say anything in the news story about him not having HIV.

that's so sad. No child should ever be taken away from the people it spent the most important part of their life with

Very sad. I remember a similar case a few years ago. I believe the couple wanted to relocate to Oregon and had had the child for years as a foster child before being denied adoption because they were gay.

I donot belive in gay adoption or fostering. She as well should not have the baby, but if I had to choose the lesser of 2 evils I guess it would be the gay couple. They obviously love the baby no matter what.

That's really sad and very wrong. I remember a friend of mine, she and her husband had something similar happen to them and her adoptive child was taken away. She was so sad...I felt bad. It's ridiculous because if they had the baby in the first place, they should be able to keep it. Then the people take it back even though they had no intention of keeping it to begin with. It's so stupid, I hate hearing about those types of things. That's one of the worst things that could happen to a couple. It's just really sad.

I support gay adoption, but even if others don't yo must admit there is something sick about someone giving up on a child and getting rid of him and then wanting him back.
that is horrible

i think gay people should be able to adopt like straight people. the grandmother was obviously using the poor men's desire for a child to get rid of her sick baby. how sad =(
