Help The World, Help the People...? |
There are so many problems in this world, that could be non-existent if we simply opened our hearts and minds to each other. How many of you out there are members of The Millennium Campaign or any other organization who's purpose is to better the world? And for those of us that are part of a religion that believes that this world is a temporary thing, how many of you simply blow it off and say "We don't need to fix it, we are only here for a little while."??? If you do, I am Christain, I believe in heaven, but shouldn't you at least try to do something anyways, to build a safer place for your children, and to care and respect the world that your god/goddess has created? There are so many problems we have the power to fix so why not fix it? How many of you can imagine living on less than $1 a day? How many of you could sit back and watch your children suffer from HIV/AIDS and other preventable diseases? Now, how do you think we could help? well, i asked myself these very questions and ended up joining the peace corps. i'm still currently volunteering (teaching environmental education) and i really feel like i've made an impact...even if it is just one community. but that's what helping people is all about.....little by little, community by community, country by country....if we all do what we can with what we have, we'll certainly find ourselves happier people as well as spreading a little joy along the way. |
