How do you convince a teenager to wait untill she gets married to have sex? I told her because it's way better because not only do you prevent getting pregnancy you also prevent STD's and it's gonna feel so special to know that you saved yourself for the person you truely love. and then she killed my beautiful speech by adding.
well thats true but how do you know he will be faithfull to you? how do you know he's not out there screwing prostitutes and bringing back aids to you.?
i said becuase i am living proof that my fiance is faithful and he loves me and would never do that to me. she said well thats what my mom said about my dad untill yesterday she found out he gave her HIV and he was always the perfect husband in everybodies eyes. She no longer trust anyone

ouch that is a tough one and hard on a kid.. course with that I would think the task is not convincing her to wait until marriage to have sex, it would be convincing her that there are decent men out there like your fiance.

Its dumb to tell someone to wait until their married to have sex. It makes them feel like sex is a taboo, and then they'll want to do it, but avoid confrontation, and thus potentially risk having sex without contraception.

Just wait for the right person to come along.. Trust me.

That by waiting, she is minimizing the risks, and a minimal risk is far better than risking everything with anyone.

unfortunately today it's very hard to have an old fashioned relationship. You don't know what the future holds. Do what is right in your heart and in your mind. I'm sorry to here about the perfect dad (in everyone's eyes) who brought the mom home HIV. This is typical the best dad's are the best because they have a guilty consciense. It's nice that you believe in SAVING IT UNTIL MARRIAGE but, on the other hand she's right, you never know. Again, i say, go with your heart and mind, and always use protection.
