I read your question, then......I saw the answers. If nothing else, your question provoked the very people you speak of into coming out of the woodwork. Truly, it is sad when people's lives are so pathetic, empty, dreary and disheartening that they feel compelled to denigrate another persons' life. Alas, since the dawn of religion and power, gays have had to endure this constant attack upon their person and spirit, but, consider this, as hard as they have tried, having brutalized, raped, beaten and murdered us over the millenia, WE ARE STILL HERE. I can guarantee you that fact alone galls them. How dare we continue to live and love. For a group so hated by their God, we seem pretty resilient to their attacks, it makes you wonder who God's chosen really are. Afterall, to have endured so much and still keep our humour, demeanour, dignity and love intact surely indicates, if not a divine, at least a helping hand from above.

Restrictions on sex are basic to any society. I have nothing against homosexuals, but I thought that I would point this out. I would also like to say that most people use any difference against people. That's just the way things are. The world is an ugly place.

It is an issue which I think will die with the next generation, same as "mixed" race marriages or "mixed" religions. (I have teenagers who have openly gay friends, and it is not even a discussion among the straight ones)
Frankly, in my opinion, if people stopped talking about it , it would not be a big issue. There were certainly lesbian and gay couples around before this republican agenda, and it didn't "make" anyone gay .

People will always find something to complain about if it is not what they prefer, I guess that is human nature. The world would be a better place if there were not so many bigots, but what can you do? Just ignore them I think is the best way. I live in a very small redneck town in Ga. and I have no problem with anyone here, and that is probably because they got to know me as a person before they discovered my sexual orientation(if they have), I don't flaunt it. As far as Dr. Randall goes NOT all gays push their agenda on other people, I am completely content just being happy with my partner and being home, and I don't care what other people think of my relationship because it is none of their business anyway. We both work hard, pay our bills, shop at the grocery store, just like EVERYONE else, straight or gay.

Homosexuality is the love of one person for another person of the same gender. I understand it conceptually. I accept it within myself.

I do not understand it biologically. Within myself, it is a confusing mess of hormones and feelings. Most of the confusion is derived from the ignorance with which I was nurtured.

All the books I've read shed some light on homosexuality, but not to the level of being comfortable in my own skin.

My focus has been on the issues revolving within and around civil rights. Imposing a ban on same-sex marriages imposes against the civil rights of a specific group of people AND imposes the religious decrees of one religion upon many. It is comparable to the laws of Islam enforced in Islamic countries. It is odd that Christendom and Islam are at odds when Christendom wishes to be as strict with it's adherents as Islam is with theirs.

If the leaders of Christendom truly wish to enforce "God's Law" on "God's People" and "God's Enemies," they could learn from Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the Taliban for they do that very same thing today.

These people are probably looking for a distraction to keep them from doing something that they ought to be doing because the problems that you are mentioning take a lot of effort and determination (much more than that, actually -- the problems are much too great and often involve risk or danger), and those people are just too lazy and want to do the little things that they can do in order to give themselves a little pat on the back, even if the things they do cause harm or discomfort to others. Also, a lot of these people do not want to leave their comfort zones nor do they want their comfort zones altered.

Yes, it is a distressing statement about "Humanity" that, in the main, we only concern ourselves with what we see on our own doorstep. News items of wars or famine only merit 3 minutes of airtime in any given showing and, worse, we can just switch channels or go to the funnies.

I, too, have a hard time understanding what perceived threat there is; among those who do have a problem with non-heterosexuals.

I suppose we can only hope to lead by example - in the (perhaps vain) hope that, eventually, those people will recognise that we mean them - and society, in general - no harm.
