Do you care about anyone other than yourself? If the answer is yes than click here!!!?

When Hurricane Katrina hit this country, we saw for the first time what a displaced American looks like. Now we鈥檙e asking you to voluntarily become displaced, leaving the comforts of your homes, to imagine for 24 hours what it鈥檚 like for the millions of people in Northern Uganda who have been displaced for more than ten years.

What is a displaced camp?
The Lord鈥檚 Resistance Army (LRA) has abducted thousands of children, subjected them to torture or sexual violence and forced them to fight in a violent guerilla army for 21 years鈥攎aking it the longest running war in Africa. In hopes of providing protection from this rebel militia, the Ugandan government forcibly evicted its Northern citizens from their homes鈥攇iving them 48 hours to relocate into camps. Today, more than 1.5 million Northern Ugandans remain far from secure, suffering nearly 1,000 deaths per week due to inhumane living conditions in the camps.
Alcoholism, sexual abuse, HIV/AIDS, inadequate sanitation and lack of education have caused immeasurable damage to two generations and the near-total destruction of Acholi culture. Water is scarce and people are reliant on food to be delivered by foreign aid. If the food isn鈥檛 delivered, the people starve. This April, the already meager rations delivered by the World Food Program to the camps will be cut in half due to lack of funding鈥攚ith school feeding programs and support for HIV/aids victims soon to follow. This will indisputably increase the number of deaths among those already suffering from severe malnutrition鈥攎ostly among women, children and the elderly. That is why the timing of this event, and your participation are so crucial.
鈥淒isplace Me鈥?is the nationwide event giving Americans the chance to respond.
By traveling to one of our 15 camps and gathering together, the strength of our size will make a visible statement to our government and media that the citizens of the U.S. demand action in ending the war in Northern Uganda, in order to send the Acholi people suffering in the camps and the abducted children back home. The point is to travel; the point is to become displaced yourself.

Uhm, the world hates the US because we are always involved in other countries' affairs. The US need to start doing what the world wants us to do - which is stay out of it. Why should our people sacrifice their lives for others who will not appreciate it when it is all over?

Where are these camps?

I'm not sure what the question is other than asking if I care about others. Yes I care and I Spenser Children through Children.org. As far as Katrina. I live in Texas and have donated money and my time to help.
I however disagree that we need to take a stand as a political effort to help Uganda. We as a country do not have the resources and will only further our own depts, waste of life, and other problems that will arise.
Philanthropy follows alot into this. You may help on the short side of the coin but what would the long term repercussions be if we stepped in also. Best of luck and God Bless

Have fun being self-displaced. I'm not trying to be negative, but nothing will come of that little venture.
The US is already hated internally for not "minding our own business" as it is, so you shouldnt expect a great deal of support from our own America haters.
The UN should be addressing this issue. Thats their job, but I guess the UN doesnt feel compelled to do anything about it.
When you look back 5 or 10 years from now, you will wonder "what was I thinking?"

You didn't to mention the religion behind The Lord's Resistance Army or who is backing the government.

I do believe that the Islamic nations have some free money now with the price of oil going so high. You should have the government of Uganda contact them again. Maybe they can buy some better soldiers.

Don't compare a natural disaster with a man made one. It's apples and oranges. Civil war in Africa could have been prevented if the people in charge would listen to the population. Dictators don't hear too well though. Drought and famine is a constant in Africa and no amount of money will change that.

Get off your soap box, this is a question forum, not a rant and rave forum.

An answer for you, no, I have to put up with me every day all day.
After I take care of myself, then there is room for others.
(just my way of making a counterpoint to you)

Yes I care only obout numoro uno, moi.
