H/w help on aids?

pls can u mention atleast 5 life skills needed for home based care for people living with HIV/AIDS

1. Hand washing
2. Avoid contact with blood

As a Physicians Assistant of 20 years I would say that these are several to use.
1). Use gloves if you must handle bodily fluids.
2). If you should come into contact with body fluids, get tested.
Keep the following in mind. It can take some time for the immune system to produce enough antibodies for the HIV test to detect. This time period can vary from person to person. Most people will develop detectable antibodies within two to eight weeks (the average is 20-25 days). Even so, there is a chance that some people will take longer to develop detectable antibodies. If the initial negative HIV test was conducted within the first three months after possible exposure, repeat testing should be considered.

1) Keep your hands washed so as not to transmit any microorganisms to the patient
2) Latex gloves when coming into contact with bodily fluids
3) Clean any hard surfaces (i.e. kitchen counter) contaminated with blood or other body fluids with 1 part bleach to 10 parts water. Let stand for 10 minutes.
4) If they are taking AIDS cocktails, get them on a routine and stick to it. Even one day without therapy can increase the viral load and lower t-cell count
5) Identify risky behaviors (like having unprotected sex, IV drug use etc.) and get the person help for modifying these behaviors so that the spread of the disease can be stopped.
6) No flowers or plants if the patient is in stage 3 or 4. Bringing in plants and flowers with outside microorganisms on them can be detrimental. Also, no raw fruits and veggies... they should be cooked, for the same reason.

Everyone has great comments but what about the main one - LOVE, SUPPORT & EMPATHY!!!
