Why do doctors say Gay people have a higher risk of AIDS or HIV I think its wrong!?

I was recently wondering around the site and saw where a guy said he cant donate his blood becuase he is gay and might have AIDS or HIV and he thought it was discriminating. Is it becuase of the way gay sex is performed? I really want to know becuase other countries alow it except for the USA becuase its full of dirty homophobes who live in trailer parks

that's right, but they don't ask how many partners you have had, or whether it is safe sex or not... it's just a total ban.
I haven't even had any casual or unsafe sex...for those who are speculating, that's the most unfair part lol. It seems to be some kind of stereotyping.
Statistics seem to be te key factor, but why are they only used in this case and not for drug users or even black people or women, who are the highest increasing section at risk.

Well Canadian Blood Services and the British Blood Service don't allow gays to donate blood - provided you check the "yes" after the application form asks you if you have had sex with another man.

Gays homosexuals tend to have more sexual partners than hetro sexuals..FACT....they also tend to inulge in more casual sex...FACT...this puts them more at risk of aids..logical really.

the reason hiv was high in the gay comunitys durin the 80's (which is no longer the case, hiv is now a problem in 3rd world!!!)
was because lack of sex ed, gay people could not get pregnent so why use a condom?

They will take your blood in the U.S. even if you're gay. It wasn't the fact that he was gay that they wouldn't take his blood. However, he must have admitted to having unprotected anal sex. Because then there is a much higher chance of getting infected with the virus.

it's a fact that he might have a higher risk. google it. Yes it's the way they have sex and most the time unprotected coz they can't get preg. It's not just in the USA and who are you to judge the state of all US citizens?

AIDS and HIV were originally called "gay diseases" because it was believed that only men could get them. For some, apparently uneducated, doctors, this belief still sticks around. Of course, this is completely inaccurate.
On the other hand, though, unprotected anal sex is slightly more likely to transmit AIDS. On the same note, that, of course, does not only apply to gay men. Straight couples do this, as well.
Overall, I almost believe that this story was made up, not by you but by whoever posted it online. Hospitals and other clinics like that are generally desperate for donated blood and would be willing to test someone before rejecting them.

try stereotyping homosexuals and you will find their sexual preference leads to all matter of deceases which is why the medical community does not accept blood from these ppl
