HIV from shower curtain?

I live in a large/mixed house. I stepped in the shower recently and before turning the shower on I pulled the shower curtain across the bath area. As I did this, the shower curtain passed over my leg. I realised someone had just showered because the curtain was wet. I looked at the area just below me left knee where the wet curtain rubbed and unfortunately I had a small sore in the area that was starting to heal and my blood couls be visible if one looked closely.

Now, can I get HIV from this incident? What if the last person to shower ejaculated on the shower curtain and the sperm touched my sore? Can I get HIV?

First, the person before you would have to have HIV.
Second, they would have to have ejaculated right onto that area of the shower curtain.
If your blood was clotting and it was healing then I highly highly highly doubt that the virus got into it.
Also, HIV does not survive very long outside of the body, so if there was any there, so much would have died that it wouldn't get into your body and infect you.

You could only get it if you had an open, unhealed cut, on your leg and there was a visible amount of semen (which would have to have HIV in it) on the curtain (because anyting less than that would be dead by then) and then got rubbed directly onto the open cut.

I'd say your chances are virtually zero.
You can get a blood test in 6 months to be sure, but I don't think anyone has ever contracted HIV though an event like that.

You can not get HIV from this casual contact. HIV can't live outside the body for very long.

Below is a link to the CDC.

Very unlikely. The HIV virus doesn't survive long outside the body and water would destroy it also.
I wouldn't worry at all about it.

No, you can't. There may have been bacteria that could have gotten into your sore, but you said it was starting to heal. You most likely have nothing to worry about.

possible, but extremely unlikely. if an HIV infected person ejaculated on that exact spot, and if that shower really was just a few minutes before your shower, and if that small sore was an open sore, and if that shower curtain hadn't recently been cleaned or splashed with soap--it is possible.

(and yes, the virus can survive outside of the body for a short period of time--a few hours--specially in a warm moist evironment. think about it for a minute, hiv can be spread by sharing sex toys and needles. general rule for hiv--if the fluid was infected and is not yet dry, it is still infected)

but come on, those are a lot of pretty unlikely ifs, don't worry about it.

The chances of what you describe happening seem very unlikely. If you are truly concerned, ask a medical professional or get tested in three months.
