How long does a person diagnosed with HIV typically have to live? In the past, it was 10 years or so. Today, with proper treatment, you'll probably die of something else, rather than aids. HIV can be in your body without effect for up to welve years. once the AIDS manifests itsself however then it varies. Depends on how much money you have. A HIV infected person may live his/her full life unless he/she manifests AIDS- Auto immunity deficiency syndrome. many, many years. treatment is the key to preventing progression to AIDS and even after that. just look at Magic Johnson...
