How long a HIV Paitent can live ? |
How long a HIV Paitent can live in this modern age 2008? any body know about it ? plz share it my friend just diognosed Hiv approxmilty tell the age as i heard its is 24 years Your friend may be able to live 25+ years free of AIDS of he is extremely lucky. HIV itself does not kill you, but as the viral load increases and your t cell count decreases you become susceptible to opportunistic infections like thrush, histoplasmosis, etc. These are what kills, so as long as they do not progress to AIDS they will be just fine. The goal with medication is to keep HIV from progressing into AIDS, and this is the longest stage of the disease. During this time your friend will be asymptomatic, and if they can afford the expensive medications can have a fully productive and enjoyable life. The medications available fall into two main categories: NNRTIs and NRTIs, which help to prevent part of HIV (reverse transcriptase) from functioning. Once their medication from one group fails, they must automatically switch to the other group because HIV becomes resistant to the medication. Sadly, 90% of HIV patients have their medication stop working at some point, and must switch to another. Once both groups fail, there are few alternatives. Basically, the medications are expensive and can have horrible side effects, but do not think for one second that your friend's life is over, because we are now able to help people live symptom free with HIV. Good luck to the both of you! everyone is different, depends on your lifestyle, amount of drugs you are taking there is NO timer on ENEY1'S life!!鈽?/div>

Never, once diagnosed they will die instantly from farting/heart attack It really depends on the kind of medical treatment they go for... AND how healthifully they live their life... hopefully your friend has the best of both.. HIV is not a death sentence with the new developments in modern medicine. The biggest problem with HIV is that they have next to none [if any] immune system and something as simple as a cold can turn into pneumonia with them. First I need to clarify some of the answers that were already given. HIV is the virus that causes AIDS. Once someone is infected with HIV, there is no medication that can get rid of it. With the help of today's drugs (which are expensive and have side effects), a person's immune system can keep the virus at bay and live a long time (years will vary by person). However over time the virus will continue to attack and kill more immune cells. When someone's T cell count drops to a certain low enough point (200 cells/ml I think)l then that person is diagnosed as having AIDS. Again this can take 10 years or more depending on the person. At this point the immune system has been weakened so much that illnesses such as pneumonia can kill a person because they don't have the defenses to fight it off. The life of a person that knows they are infected with HIV is not normal. They will probably have to be on drugs for the rest of their life and in most cases, an AIDS diagnosis is inevitable sometime down the line. They also have to take measures to make sure they don't infect anyone else (PROTECTED SEX ALWAYS). |
