If HIV does not live outside of the body, then how is it transmited through needle sharing? |
I work with youth teaching them about HIV/AIDS and STD's, but one question they ask is why HIV is transmitted through needle sharing when HIV does not live outside the body... and exactly how much is needed to infect a person? because a needle doesnt let any air into it also body fluids inside U Report It I find a HIV blog and community online place. http://www.positivesingles.com... blood residue on the needle itself It lives inside the needle. It isnt exposed to the air, the air is what kills it. Dirty needles, moron. HIV can live outside of the body. As long as the body fluid is still wet and if kept at the correct temeperature the virus can survive. For example, if a person who has the virus donates blood to a blood bank, they can't use it because it would infect another individual. HIV can live outside the body if it is still in some kind of fluid, even microscopic droplets of blood inside a needle or syringe. HIV is a virus, and viruses are so incredibly tiny. |
