How long can a baby with HIV stay alive.? |
Is it posible for a baby living with HIV to survive for more years In the 80's when hiv was new and there were hardly any drugs to treat it then probably no, but now there are better drug treatments by the way there are some long term survivors with the virus who have had it 20+ yrs. anything is possible.. It depends. You die from HIV if you get another illness. Because you are weak. HIV can be treated with medication and be kept under control. If left untreated and it develops to AIDS ,then that'll kill you no matter what. Vast numbers of children across the world become infected with HIV every year. Without treatment, thousands die as a result of AIDS within 3-10years of age. With proper medical interventions (ie. HIV meds) a baby born with HIV can live a long time. I know of a few young adults (15-20) who were born with HIV and are still alive and well. Sometimes, despite best efforts and despite meds a certain percentage of people die (just as with adults) |
