What is the solution for emails carrying incorrect information about HIV/AIDS?

working with Indian Red Cross Society, HIV/AIDS awareness program, we work very hard to prevent the spread of misinformations regarding HIV/AIDS. As India is the 2nd largest HIV infected country this issue posses a severe threat. there are several Myths & Misconceptions already about HIV and so the People Living with HIV often face a lot of Stigma & Discrimination. When the literate and well established people in this country which already has very poor knowledge about HIV send emails carrying complete misinformation on this issue, eg: HIV can spread by eating food prepared by HIV+ve persons... it feels extremely disappointing to people like us , who work relentlessly for the awareness of HIV and the reduction in the stigma & discrimination felt towards them.
We had received one such email from a doctor and it shocked us. What should we do to reach out to people through the internet, who receive similar emails and believe in their content due to lack of knowledge regarding HIV/AIDS.

My guess is that the only thing that is more common than computers is television and radio. That's where I would concentrate my efforts.
The people who don't have computer access are not receiving E-Mails. If there is access through public facilities, such as libraries, E-Cafes, etc., then I would be sure to have information postings in those areas.

Mis- and Dis-information abound regarding aids/hiv. That's not going to change, but public service announcements and posters are still a first defense.

You send out emails with correct information. You follow up bad emails with good emails and ask that they be forwarded. You give seminars and lectures on the subject. You set up a website with correct information, and learn how to get people to come to your website first. You get companies to donate billboards with truthful information. You do interviews with local newspapers, radio stations and TV stations. In short, you do everything you need to do to start an education campaign.

Ha! Funny, you want us to come up with a solution to
ignorance and rumor. I've got a neighbor who thinks
she was abducted by ALIENS! Come on. Just get over
it.
