How long do people with hiv usually live?

I am curious, with proper nutrition, adherence to meds, excersize. How long do people with hiv live for? Is it extremly hard for someone with hiv that is qualified to gain employment and receive medical benefits?

may be 25 years

25 - 30 years

case by case.

hard to say depending on what stage this person is in. most live a productive life for ten to twenty years if you can afford the hundred on hundreds of dollars a month for meds

They have to be careful what they eat, make sure it's cooked properly etc. They have medication also.

The time varies. There are some people who will live for many years because they are able to take the proper medication to help reduce the pain and suffering.Take Magic Johnson. He has been diagnosed for more than ten years now.

if the person that has HIV has a lot of money, then they can keep paying to treat the HIV. if they don't, then it may take 25 years before they pass away.

For the first part of the question, HIV is not the fatal aspect - its full blown AIDS with pneumonia as the culprit for death. One of the key components is the white blood cell count. There are alot of factors that will determine the amount of time someone will live. As far as gaining employment - its an illegal question for an interviewer to ask. Regarding medical insurance, that would depend on the insurance company policy.

First, HIV is very confidential and a person does not have to tell an employer that they are HIV positive. Many people qualify for insurance as well. Premiums tend to be higher but there are agencies that offer HIV medications for a reduced price and some give it free if you meet certain qualifications.

In todays age HIV does not bring an automatic death sentence. With the various "cocktails" on the market many people do have had HIV for more than 10 years and have a lower risk of developing AIDS.

It is feasable for someone who is HIV positive to live a normal life with some changes to their lifestyle. As far as medical benifits go, research the health care provider for a company and see what the premium and requirements are. If the companies Health care plan does not satisfy you and there is one that does, have your insurance that your company offers dropped and negotiate the difference be added to your salary.

There are groups for people with HIV and they have a slew of helpful info. that cators to persons with HIV.

Good luck and happy new year!

they can live up to about 10-20 years.
now even with those factors to help them if they naturally have a weak immune sytem or any other medical problems, their chances are cut dramaticly.

a business can't refuse to hire you if you are sick- that's discrimination. insurance costs do rise and many plans don't cover pre-existing conditions
