Question for Indians living in India, with the rise of HIV do u think sex education is nessesary in schools?

HIV is at a remarkable number in India and for some reason people in India are still so conservative about teaching their youth about sex education and sexual responsibility. Considering India is the land of the kama sutra, and when u see all that is being shown in Bollywood movies, when will people realize that its hypocritical not to emphasize the importance of sex education when its such an apparent part of our culture?

This HIV is not just happening to prostitutes or "other" people's children, its happening to their own as well...Are these people who are opposing it in denial about whats really going on in India right now?

Parents are clueless as to what their kids are doing, there is such a lack of communication between parents and kids regarding this subject and i think it makes kids more vulnerable to making the wrong decisions when it comes to sex. How do we deal with this situation when we as a culture continue to have this double standard mentality?

Sex Education is a must for everyone. But I would say it's too early to start it at the school level. In India like countries, bringing sex education as a subject in college itself is a doubtful one. Because whatever u do there will u find some adversaries.Even if a smoking scene comes in a film, there would people arise to ban the film. Likewise as said, possibly sex education may route in the college syllabus in the near future....

I don't live in India but I agree with you. But first I think the "pervert-culture" has to go. People should learn how to stay faithful to their wives. I think the parents are worried that if the children knows how to have sex safely, they will do it all the time and screw up their future. Again, comes the topic of perversions.

Exactly!!!! you are right, sex edu is a must in developing countries like India. I do accept that people are conserved here but the rising nos. of AIDS and other sexual related diseases is also on fire.
Parents must understand that yes sex edu will diverge the mindset of their children and will force them to get attracted to the opposite sex, which they anyhow will, is better if their children have sufficient knowledge about what they are upto.
The rising rate of pregnancy drops in India is a big concern which is all due to lack of information to the teenagers. It was in news earlier that no. of teenagers doing sex in developed countries use rubber. Now this is all due to the edu system. they are aware of the ill effects of not using the rubber and when u ask an indian to use rubber, his reply will be " Chod yaar aese he mza aata hai". What do u call is this. This is carelessness and lack of information about AIDS and the other diseases associated with it.
So now is the time to come out of the reserve nature and vote for sex edu for our children.

Yes,the mental block of parents (biggest hurdle) should be removed by expert counselling; introducing the entire facets in schools is great but until the teachers and parents do not work in tandem, all edu. will fall flat. I STILL REMEMBER MY CLASS TEACHER SKIPPING THE ENTIRE SYLLABUS OF REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM.The need of the hour is not just introduction (which can backfire leading to experimenting young if not guided properly) but a thorough removal of shame factor in the brains of parents and teachers so that a father can say without hesitation -Its worth waiting till an appropriat age.

yes yes yes

i missed a lot on it yaar

Yes.
Schools definitely need sex education.
Most of the young population still carries a lot of mis information regarding sex

In my interpretation the sex (male & female intercource) is an natural subject and does not required to be learned by teaching as a text at any level, it is learned by each of us as we grow by age & physic. However this has been awared in a literate sence in family from elder members and regulated by means of mairrage. Now a days when we are de-centrelising male-female relations in family / society the sexual relaion is becoming worst and bringing vulnerable diseases. If we are truely interested to bring our youngsters awared about sex, we have to strictly make them to obey thier parents & elders and also follow brothership & sistership amongst all young ones.
I strongly suggest to bring-in the sex related diseases in the social science texts at secondery & higher secondery levels (co-related with biology lessions) and let this stream of study be with medical sciences.

YES
SEX EDUCATION IS NOW NECESSARY PART..............

Sex education these days should be a necessary subject. because i watched news yesterdays and according to a survey 25 lakh people in INDIA are affected by it. and sex education must be upto a level that a teacher can teach. it shud not be more BOLD that a teacher cant do it.
