care about them as a person not the disease they have

No one but God can help someone live longer. Bring religion into their lives...the most important and beautiful thing in life.

Wear and AIDS pin and do a lot of charity walks.

There are a number of HIV/AIDS support organizations that look for volunteers to visit patients at their homes to help them take care of daily activities (grocery shopping, dog walking) and for emotional support. Many people lose touch with family and friends once they are diagnosed with HIV/AIDS. That is truely sad because social support is what people with teminal illnesses need the most. Look up these organizations in your local phone book.
