Do you think people living with HIV can live normal, long lives?

Just wondering...a lot of docs nowadays seem to think so, but I'm not sure if they're just being optimistic so they don't scare their patients.

no. they cant. they cant have the same sex life. their lives probably wont be long if they contract the disease early in life

I think they can live a lot longer than they used to. Medicine improves every day. I think that hopefully in our lifetime we will see the shift where HIV becomes a past scare and not a future threat. :)

With development of new antiviral medications, people with HIV are living much longer, and remaining healthy.

thats kind of a dumb question NORMAL lives? if you have an illness that will probably never go away and then turn into a full blown immune supressing disease i think your life is anything BUT normal, with that said there are lots of treatments if you catch it early and you could live for a lot longer now than you did in the 80's

Ask Magic Johnson who was diagnosed in 1992. Stop asking dumb questions and read the New England Journal of Medicince.

Not necessarily a "normal" life, since living with HIV/AIDS is a very serious issue that's on their minds constantly. The amount of meds that they have to take is astounding. I think they can live a LONGER life now that there is progress being made in the medical field but I'm not sure if we'll be able to completely irradicate AIDS/HIV in our lifetime.

well, they have an extremely high chance of not living as long as someone without HIV because they have immunity disorder, so when they get sick they'll die or have a high chance of dieing. they do take pills to help them though, later it will develop into full blown AIDS which means they have no immunity at all to sicknesses so they'll die if they get sick. they've been talking about making AIDS and HIV tests a part of regular physicals, i think that's good because half the people with the disease don't know they have it.

Long, yes. Normal, no. Imagine what it must be like for a minute living with the fear that you might get the 'flu and it could KILL you!

leave it up to pharmaceuticals they won't cure anything just keep you alive longer ,so you can use there drugs for the rest of your life. People have been cured of many diseases like Aids ,Cancer, and so many other so called incurable diseases. Just not in this country. Do research for you self and take you health in your own hands don't re lie on other to tell you .
