Conference Chair, Bernard Forbes welcomed participants back into the main hall and asked “How was your conference?” This was met with a spontaneous round of applause.
After bringing the audience's attention to some of the highlights of the event, he then asked participants to show their appreciation for all the speakers, chairs, facilitators and volunteers who had worked so hard to make the event a success.
This included a presentation of gifts to Babs Evans who had worked so hard to help put the event together.
Bernard also read out a message from the newly formed ‘Africans Getting Involved’ who wished to publicly thank their gay brothers for all the work, support and advocacy they had done on behalf of African people living with HIV. The group said that they now intend to encourage more African people to speak up, get involved and do things for themselves.
