Welcome to Do UKCare ?

We care ...

   We know you care too

In 2003 we celebrated the tenth anniversary of UKC and we feel it is timely to mark this milestone in our history by showing that we continue to care enough about the work we do and how it is resourced.

About the DoUKCARE Campaign

We have launched a challenge to companies and individuals within the British business community by asking them if THEY CARE to contribute advice, expertise, support, services or resources to assist the ongoing fight against HIV and AIDS within the UK and worldwide. As part of this campaign we will also launch the ' 100,000 Club ', which will ask individuals and commerce to donate £100 per year to the UKC in support of the campaign aims.

The increasing HIV and AIDS epidemic in the UK, although frightening in scale, is but a small mirror of the HIV and AIDS pandemic evident worldwide. This is why we intend to target contributions made to the DoUKCARE campaign towards the work of the UKC and its support of The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria and other associated initiatives in the developing world.

About the Launch

The launch took place at UKC's 10th Anniversary Party on Sunday 28th September 2003.

For far too long we and other HIV charities have placed the burden of our existence on the financial support of a few donors but in reality how long can this situation continue?

Don't misunderstand this. We're extremely grateful for the grants that help us deliver services that benefit those in need. We wouldn't be here today without this support. However, those of us who work in the HIV sector are becoming increasingly aware that with the continued rise in new HIV diagnoses the demand for funding from these donors is being spread ever more thinly.

Now is a time for action and we feel it is time for us to re-explore ways in which we can strategically bring together businesses, organisations and individuals who also care enough to work in new and better partnerships with people living with HIV and AIDS.
