Volunteering
The Fundraising Department wouldn't be able to do the job it does without our faithful team of volunteers...from helping out in the office, envelope stuffing and tin shaking. It costs nothing apart from your time, if you could spare even one day in a month we'd love to hear from you as we would really welcome a few extra pairs of hands.
Keeping In Touch - Become a Friend
Why not registrar to become a friend of the UKC and for a small subscription of £25 a year and receive Positive Nation magazine delivered in a plain envelope straight to your door.
Legacies
Remember the UKC in your Will. This is a wonderful way to ensure that the work we do continues. Legacies to charities are free of inheritance tax at any time.
Please contact us for more information.
Give As You Earn
Announced in the budget of April 2000, the Government introduced a scheme to encourage more people to give to charity directly from their wages. This is tax-free and the Government will add 10p to every pound donated from payroll giving in addition to 28p-tax relief. If you would like more information about this very effective form of payroll giving please contact us in the fundraising department.
Support Groups
We run a range of user led support groups, however we can not do it without your help. If you would like to organise your own fundraising events during the year with your own circle of friends we would love to hear from you - Don't worry we wouldn't leave you out in the cold and would supply you with all the backup support and advice you needed.
Company Giving
Companies are able to make gifts to charity, deducting basic rate income tax from the payment and accounting for it to the Inland Revenue. As companies can reclaim 28p in the pound, a donation to us of £1,000 will actually only cost your company £720.
If you would like us to receive a valuable additional benefit to your intended gift at no extra cost to your company we would ask you to increase the amount you give us by the tax reclaim value of 28% and then claim it back, e.g. you would send us £1,280, but would receive tax relief to the value of £280.
In this way your company will have given us £1,000, but the UKC will actually receive £1,280, the full value of your gift due to the extra benefit this tax arrangement delivers.
Fundraising Events
We are always looking for help with our own fundraising events. If you feel you could spare just a couple of days a year and help out with our Christmas fair, sponsored walks, bric-a-brac sales, tin-shaking etc. we would love to hear from you. Volunteering your time costs nothing but really helps to make a difference.

Quick and easy ways to lend your support
We would also like to hear from anybody that could lend their support and display a poster in their local church or place of worship, shop, school or even gym advertising our upcoming events. If you know of a shop, newsagents or even a restaurant that would take one of our collection tins off our hands all you need to do is contact Carl Mills our Events and Community Fundraiser on 020 7564 2180 and he will do the rest.
