Can you get HIV symptoms 2 - 3 days after sex?

Can you get HIV symptoms 2 - 3 days after sex?

No, HIV may take months or even years to show up. If you think you're infected do a test so that at least you'll know and avoid infecting other people.

No. The virus replication and all takes 4-6 weeks. If you think you may have HIV, go get tested now. If you are negative, great. If not, you already had it, and viruses are different in virulence and they need to take this into consideration with treatment. Good Luck, and be careful in the future, we only get one go around...dont let the little head talk for the big head;)

no - it is most likely in your mind. the virus needs time to reproduce and infect your t-cells. Testing should be done 4-6 weeks after exposure.

No prodromal stage take approx 6 weeks after exposure- Flu like symptoms

I don't think you would get them that early but it is hard to say. Usually many people have no symptoms when first infected but signs of an infection mimic other things like a cold or mono: These symptoms include:

Sore Throat
Swollen Glands

If you feel you may have contacted a STD during sex go to your local health department, planned parenthood or regular family doctor for advise and counseling. Play it safe from now on use protection.

What symptoms are you referring to?

The answer is it is unlikely. However, nothing in clinical medicine is 100%.

Usually there are no noticeable or specific symptoms of HIV infection for many many years.
However, around the 2-4 week mark (sometimes longer/shorter) after exposure and infection, some people experience "acute retroviral syndrome" .....some of the symptoms below may be present, or NONE of the symptoms may be present. [these symptoms point to MANY illnesses, not just HIV]

*Fever that may becombined with
-Muscle aches/pains
-Swollen lymph nodes
-Loss of apetite
-Sore throat,
-Sores in the mouth
-night sweats
-genital sores

If you have some of these symptoms does it mean you have HIV? NO.
If you don't have any of these symptoms does it mean you don't have HIV? NO [10-60% of people have no symptoms at this stage]

However, if you experience some of these symptoms and you think there is even the slightest chance that you may have contracted it (recent sexual activity or sharing needles even with someone who you think is HIV negative. You should go to the doctor and share with him/her your symptoms and any risk activities you may have had and ask to be tested.

I would also suggest that you practice safer sex until you get the test results back, as if you have been infected and are in the primary phase {the phase we have been speaking about} than you will be at your most infectious [there is more virus in your blood stream, semen, vaginal fluids, and breast milk at this stage than any other, theoretically]

I have heard, and read, that there is still something you can do after a possible infection, if you take IMMEDIATE action:

Now, I'm not a medical person, I'm just a schmuck who reads stuff online. But if you were at risk recently, and are worried, I'd wonder if it would be a good idea to talk to your doctor, ASAP.
